HOW I GOT STARTED

In 2017, photographer Shannon Gray embarked on a mission trip to Chincha, Peru, where she dedicated her time to teaching English, with a team of volunteers, to the local youth and providing much-needed medical assistance. Shannon played a vital role of preserving moments. While her mornings were spent teaching English, the afternoons presented a unique opportunity for Shannon to capture the essence of Peruvian families through her lens. Armed with a camera, she documented their moments of anticipation while waiting for medical results, offering them a glimpse into a world they had never experienced before - the world of family portraits. This transformative experience marked Shannon's first steps into the captivating realm of photography.

Today, Shannon continues to pursue her passion for photography as she embarks on a new chapter in her life. As she has achieved her BFA, she has officially established 'Gray Star Photography'. Through her lens, Shannon aims to immortalize the beauty of life's precious moments, capturing the raw emotions and genuine connections that make each family unique.
